A Walk Amongst The Lavender

Just a short drive from Tunbridge Wells, Castle Farm nestles in the Darenth Valley, near to Lullingstone Country Park and Castle.

In June and July each year, as you approach either on foot or via car, the scent in the air will let you know you are nearing your destination before you can see it! You'll catch glimpses of purple and blue through the trees and finally, you'll see the farm; fields of beautiful lavender stretching all around.

Each year, Castle Farm open up their fields to the public for pre-booked lavender picnics, massages and walks.  Their farm shop sells amazing lavender products from oils to ice cream and in the right season, you can buy farm produce as well.

For the last few years, I've enjoyed visiting with my family for an evening lavender picnic.  Tickets are released a couple of days in advance once dry weather is assured and all you have to do is rock up with a hamper full of yummy goodies and enjoy the scenery, scents and, I would say solitude, but they are popular events!  But whilst you won't have the field to yourself, there is plenty of room for everyone!

This year, I went along with some friends and took my camera to grab some shots while we were there.

If you've been to Castle Farm for a lavender picnic before, you'll know how lovely it is!  If you haven't been before, definitely put it into the diary for 2021.
