Grosvenor & Hilbert Park Summer Fair 2018 - Georgina Edwards Photography

Although I live just 5 minutes from the centre of Tunbridge Wells in one direction, I'm very lucky to also live within a stones throw of a lovely park in the opposite direction.  Grosvenor and Hilbert Park boasts being the oldest public park in Tunbridge Wells and recently underwent some very signicficant refurbishment, thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

Not only is there a very well equipped playground, but a skate park, two football pitches, an orchard, a cafe, a bowling green and a community 'hub'.  In 2011, the "Friends of Grosvenor and Hilbert Park" was set up to help support and maintain the park and act as a focus for bringing the local community together.  Since then, they have organised and hosted 5 fabulous family friendly summer fairs in the park, bringing together amazing local businesses, performing arts, activities and the local community.

This year, with the forecast set to be scorching, a huge number of families and local residents decended on the park to enjoy an amazing day of entertainment and activities.  People brought picnics or savoured some of the food offerings from various local eateries; a bouncy castle, face painting and donkey rides kept the kids amused, and, if that wasn't enough, a stage was set up for performaces by local bands, singers, gymnasts and dancers.

I'd say, an amazing day was had by all.  Thank you to FoGH for organising such a brilliant community event!  Here's to 2019!
