January can often feel pretty low and flat after the excitement of Christmas and New Year. The sparkly lights have all gone away, so the drab greyness of January weather is just a bit, well......blurghhh!
But there is always the prospect of potential snow and when it's crispy cold and you can wrap up snuggly and warm, a brisk walk in the countryside can do wonders for your mental health.
With the shorter days, there is also the potential to get younger children as well as older ones out and about during an early sunset. And that's just what I did with my family a couple of weeks ago. The forecast suggested a clear evening, so we wrapped up, headed up to Ashdown Forest and enjoyed one of the most beautiful spectacles nature has to offer.
