Day Trips from Tunbridge Wells: Camber Sands

When the sun shines, and it's actually hot, one of the best days out for our family is a day on the beach.  We are lucky in Tubridge Wells that we are only an hour from the sea and we have a wealth of beaches to choose from.  In my time, I've spent many hours at Bexhill's pebbly beach front, Eastbourne is great with the pier and the airshow, Birling Gap is dramatic and has lots of rocks pools to explore but the enormous expanse of sand at Camber Sands is breathtaking!

It's worth checking the tide timetable before making any plans because it's a pain if you turn up and find out that high tide is due in the middle of trip!  And the thing to remember about Camber Sands is that the tide rolls in very quickly across the sand bank so you need to make sure you are aware of that.  But other than that, take a ball, a bucket and spade, a kite and a picnic and a glorious day is guaranteed (as are the tantrums in the car on the way home!).
