In Love With Autumn
Autumn Spectacle
During Autumn, I absolutely adore getting outside for long, leisurely walks. There’s something so special about the changing seasons, when the vibrant greens of summer begin to soften and fade into the warm, earthy tones of autumn. The air feels a little crisper, the light takes on a golden glow, and every woodland path seems full of quiet surprises waiting to be noticed.
If you take a moment to slow down and really look closely, the forest floor becomes an entire world of its own. Amongst the fallen leaves, mossy logs, and damp patches of dead wood, you’ll often spy an amazing array of fungi poking their little (and sometimes quite large!) heads above the ground. It’s like nature’s own treasure hunt, with each step revealing something new.
Recently, I feel I have noticed an even wider range of colours, shapes, and sizes than ever before. Some fungi appear delicate and dainty, while others look bold and almost otherworldly, as if they belong in a fairytale. From bright reds and oranges to subtle creams and browns, their variety is truly breathtaking.
With that in mind, I have been out and about capturing these wonderful discoveries with both my ‘proper’ camera as well as my ancient iphone camera. No matter the equipment, I’ve been truly stunned by Mother Nature’s incredible autumn offerings of fungi over the last few years.
And I shall look forward to what I can discover this year too!
