SPOTLIGHT ON…

Timemarker

When Timemarker approached me, their website was doing little to reflect the personality and expertise behind the brand. It was clean but bland, impersonal, and completely lacking any photography. More importantly, it wasn’t speaking to the right clients.

That’s where brand photography for creative businesses came in – to bring warmth, relatability, and a sense of who they are, to every page.

The Brief

The goal was simple but essential: create a collection of images that would bring Timemarker’s online presence to life. The imagery needed to resonate with their target audience – primarily creatives and creative agencies – and show the professional, practical and human side of the business.

Working with a tight budget, the shoot would rely on staff and friends as models, and we needed to work within a limited number of locations. Every image had to work hard, from hero shots on the homepage to content for blogs and seasonal updates. Delivering professional brand photography for creative businesses that felt authentic and approachable was the key objective.

The Challenge

Shooting on a budget always demands creativity, so we addressed location first.  We were able to use one of the crew’s home to mock up desks.  Some of the budget went on hiring one of the meeting rooms at The Town Hall in Tunbridge Wells, which we could then set up for ‘meetings’ and ‘offices’.  The shoot took place on one of the UK’s rare boiling hot summers days, so we were all aware that the absence of air conditioning kept the pace of the shoot fairly slow!!

The plain backdrop of the meeting room offered little visual interest. Without careful planning, the images risked feeling flat and uninspiring.  The challenge was to introduce colour, texture, and personality into a space that was otherwise neutral.

The Solution

To bring the brand to life, we started by planning a range of scenarios that reflected how Timemarker’s clients actually work. We mocked up meetings, capturing both wide shots and detail shots of notebooks, coffee cups, and digital devices in action. Desk setups were styled for creatives and agencies, ensuring the imagery would feel relevant and aspirational.

For the Town Hall shoot, we used props, carefully chosen outfits, and strategic placement of items to introduce the brand’s colours and add depth to the background. This made the otherwise plain room feel lively, modern, and engaging.

We also captured a library of versatile images suitable for blogs and seasonal content, giving Timemarker Time Sheets a bank of visuals they could use across multiple channels. Despite the heat and the budget constraints, the team’s enthusiasm and careful planning meant we ended the day with a collection of images that truly reflect the personality and professionalism of the brand.

This project is a great example of how brand photography for creative businesses can transform a website from impersonal to approachable, helping companies connect with their ideal clients in a meaningful way.
