Personal Brand Photographer in Kent
Emily Drew recently set up Empowered Consultancy having spent 20 years in industry honing and perfecting her skills. Knowing that she needed to hit the ground running with a professional website and on-brand imagery across her socials, she got in touch to discuss brand photography.
The Brief
During my pre-shoot consultation with Emily, we established the exact style of brand photography she was looking for and identified what she wanted to visually convey through her bespoke brand photos.
As a consultant, trainer and coach, she will spend most of her time on-site at client’s premises, so we needed to source a suitable location in which to shoot.
It was also important that we recruit a number of ‘models’ to attend the shoot to play the part of trainees, allowing us to show Emily in action.
I was able to suggest a number of locations in the local area which are available for hire and which would provide an appropriate backdrop to the shots. Emily roped in some friends for the day and off we went!
The Challenge
The room in which we were shooting had a low ceiling, which meant I couldn’t position my lights as high as I typically would. This limitation required some creative adjustments. Fortunately, the day was bright, and the large bay window let in plenty of natural light. However, this big window presented its’ own challenge — I had to be careful about reflections and overexposing the highlights when shooting towards the windows.
The room was also quite cluttered with furniture, so we spent time rearranging and removing items to ensure the final shots were clean, clutter free and visually appealing. This effort ensured the focus remained on Emily and her friends without distractions in the background. It was a bonus to have five of Emily’s friends participate, playing the roles of trainees in various setups. To maximize variety, I carefully documented the different combinations of friends in each shot, ensuring we captured a diverse range of group dynamics.
Emily brought several outfit changes, which added even more variety to her gallery. Each outfit brought a fresh look and feel to the images, helping to showcase her personality and style.
The Solution
Despite the logistical challenges, the day was extremely productive, and the variety of images we achieved for the final gallery was greatly rewarding. Emily now has a range of headshots in different outfits and different settings and a host of ‘teaching’ shots with her interacting with her trainees. She has quickly been able to use them across her new website and it’s great to see them popping up in her marketing efforts on her social channels.
What did Emily have to say?
“Not only is Georgina is an incredible photographer, she’s also superb to work with! I hired Georgina to shoot photos for my (new) business and I was beyond impressed by the results. In preparing for the session Georgina went above and beyond e.g. helping me scout out a location for the shoot. On the day, Georgina made myself and the shoot participants feel so at ease and comfortable. I loved the ideas she had, and her level of professionalism – and fun! I could not be happier with the photos she produced – so many gems to choose from. I cannot recommend Georgina highly enough and will definitely be using her services again in the future!!.”
