Ben Adam-Smith of House Planning Help spent many years finding the right plot of land in Hertfordshire on which to build his dream family home. Now that it is finished, Ben asked me along to explore his beautiful house and take pictures for his business supporting self-build projects with online learning, expertise and trade knowledge.

The Brief

Ben wanted a good selection of imagery for use on his website and across his social platforms, which showcased his wonderful new home in the real light of family living, as well as some update to date headshots.

The Challenge

We had a beautiful sunny day for our shoot which provided gorgeous light in some parts of the house facing the sun, but other areas which were much darker. Low winter sun, as well as a covering of snow on the ground reflected a lot of light into the interior through large floor to ceiling glass doors in the main living area, so it was important to balance these contrasts in light and dark. Ben was keen to have some exterior shots of the house which disguised the unfinished garden, so I needed to get creative with some existing planting outdoors.

The Solution

A selection of stylish shots showing the attention to detail that went into the interior design, as well as images showcasing the comfort of the family home. Coupled with modern exterior shots of the house and headshots, Ben has a great selection of images to use across the board.

What did Ben have to say?

“I was keen to update key imagery for my house-building website and related social media accounts, so I went to Georgina for help. I wanted the new head shots to make it clear that I work in construction and particularly housing. Georgina understood the brief and made quick work of setting up a shoot and turning around high quality photos. I was extremely happy with the results. Having professional standard photos of what I do makes me look more professional too! I shall definitely book another session in the future.”
