Personal Brand Photographer in Tunbridge Wells

Jamies Innes recently set up Oak & Clay Garden Design after a career change.  He was in need of a personal brand photographer to capture some imagery for his website and social channels.  On a beautiful summers evening in June, I headed over to the Weald of Kent to photograph him surrounded by the gardens he has lovingly tended!

The Brief

At Jamie’s pre-shoot consultation, it was great to have a brief which was already quite clearly defined in his mind.  He knew he needed a range of images in various locations around the site and he was able to provide a specific shot list of the sorts of things he needed.  We discussed the best time of day to capture images of the garden to maximise the ‘golden hour’ look and feel.  As well as images of Jamie out and about in the gardens he’s designed, planted and nurtured, he also wanted shots of him at work during the design process in his beautiful home study.  So, armed with a wealth of direction and room for creative collaboration, I headed over to meet Jamie at his stunning home just outside Sevenoaks.

The Challenge

Generally, one of the first things clients tell me when I arrive for a shoot, is how much they hate having their photo taken!  In fact, 99.9% of my clients tell me this!  Therefore, I have found that it’s really important to begin with a face to face or zoom pre-shoot consultation which starts building rapport which then naturally builds on the day of the shoot.  I don’t like to rush my clients straight into shooting on arrival at a personal branding photo shoot, so it’s good to chat whilst I set up and get a feel for how the session is going to flow.  Jamie’s study is perfectly formed, but small, so I needed to set up some additional lighting and work out the set ups we needed.  We then knew we would move outside once the sun was lower in the sky; but the challenge here was to decide what to photograph!  The whole garden was absolutely beautiful!  We also needed to head further into the fields and flower meadows around the property in order to capture Jamie amongst the wilder elements of the landscape which would serve to emphasise the ‘wilderness’ aspect of his design business.

The Solution

We captured a number of images of Jamie in his study; at his desk, at his drawing table as well as some simple modern headshots which will serve to show the real person behind the Oak And Clay brand.  Along with these shots, we took a huge range of shots of the gardens themselves, Jamie ‘at work’ in the garden, as well as in ‘contemplative’ mood in the great outdoors.  These can be used across his social channels as well as to populate his website when it goes live, and help to make his fledgling business highly visible and appealing to potential clients.

What did Jamie have to say?

“Georgina is the perfect branding photographer.  She combines the balance of a serious, methodical, and professional approach, along with a relaxed and individual personality. This combination allows her to get the very best out of a branding shoot, while also making it an enjoyable experience

She has excellent technical ability, and we were amazed at the huge range of excellent shots we had available to use at the end of our half day branding photoshoot.

Highly recommended as an excellent investment for anyone requiring branding photography.”
