In no particular order, these cafes have been tried and tested and wholeheartedly recommended as the places to get the best coffee in Tunbridge Wells – so read on and tell me if you agree!

The Black Dog

Camden Road, TN1 2PT

A huge favourite for locals, The Black Dog is a stalwart on Camden Road.  Serving “Exceptional coffee & vibrant, delicious food”, you can also join them for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

The Bicycle Bakery

Camden Road, TN1 2Qz

Well known for its’ fantastic freshly baked on-site breads, stop by the Bicycle Bakery for a wonderful cup of specialty coffee which stems “from natural and humble origins”.

Gusta

Camden Road, TN1 2QE

Also on Camden Road, Gusta is a wonderful authentic Italian deli – so not only does it serve amazing coffee, but also delicious pastries, savories AND at the right time of day, it’s also a wine bar.  What more do you want!

Basil Wholefoods

Lime Hill Road & St. Johns Road

Blessed with two outlets in Tunbridge Wells, Basil source coffee from a local Kentish supplier.  On top of that they boast 3 coffee masters in the business who are jointly in charge of training their baristas, making sure they offer an outstanding coffee experience.  Oh, and they serve amazing food too.  What’s not to love!

Perron

Mount Pleasant, TN1 1NT

Serving “outstanding speciality coffee” across from Tunbridge Wells station, Perron (used to be The Superfood Company) have rebranded to combine their love of coffee, burritos, tacos and cocktails.  So if you fancy an amazing cup of coffee and some delicious food to boot, go check them out!

Momentum Coffee

Mount Pleasant, TN1 1RB

On the hill up from Tunbridge Wells train station, Momentum Coffee excels in providing its’ customers with amazing speciality coffee which is ethically sourced and roasted in London.  Also, the cakes looks to die for!

Juliets

High Street, TN1 1XF

On the High Street in Tunbridge Wells, Juliets is (in)famous for its’ windows full of enticing and mouth watering cakes.  Inside, they serve delicious coffee with a smile and a whole load of joy!

The Lodge TW

High Street, TN1 1XX

Continuing along the High Street in Tunbridge Wells, The Lodge is one of a very small local group of outlets in Kent.  Their outstanding coffee is a medium roasted blend of washed Robusta, Brazilian and central American Arabica’s which apparently has good tangy acidity levels, combined with a medium body and soft milk chocolate sweetness. This is for real coffee lovers!

The Zero Waste Co

The Pantiles, TN2 5TD

Beyond the High Street, and into Tunbridge Wells’ historical Pantiles, The Zero Waste Company provide an eco, plastic free, refill store for bulk buy food and household items.  In 2019 they supplemented the store with a fabulous vegetarian cafe serving wonderful coffee and treats – to both eat in and take away – but with out the plastic.  Run by Holly & Lottie it is well worth a visit to support one our amazing small local businesses.

Hattons

The Pantiles, TN2 5TN

Staying in The Pantiles, Hattons is a “Cafe and Eatery for Food Lovers”.  Run by husband and wife team Lisa and Daniel Hatton, their focus is on providing a casual-dining day time cafe, so alongside the seasonal and locally sourced food menu, their coffee is a coffee lovers delight.  Plus, being on The Pantiles takes sitting outside to another level!

Even Flow

St. Johns Road, TN4 9TU

At the other end of Tunbridge Wells on St. Johns Road, Even Flow is a coffee shop with a difference; it is also a music shop shop selling new and 2nd hand vinyl & CDs.  However, whilst the music is good, I have it on good authority that their coffee is to die for.  Go check them out!
