There are loads of questions you might like to ask before your shoot. Here, I’ve compiled some of the frequent questions I’m asked. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
My kids are awful when I try to take pictures of them. How do you do it?
Do you know what? So are mine! BUT, it’s not all about getting them to ‘pose’. It’s also about making them feel comfortable in front of the camera and this is something I excel in. I try to capture natural moments and this could be playing peekabo, hide-and-seek, or cracking some DREADFUL jokes! Have a look at reviews from previous clients – they often mention how much I engage with their kids to make them feel at ease.

We have a dog; can we bring it?
100% YES! We just need to make sure the location we choose is dog friendly (I haven’t found one yet that isn’t!)!
How many photos will you take?
Over the space of the hour or two we are together, I can shoot hundreds shots! Especially if there are toddlers moving about a lot! However, part of the service is that I choose the best 20-40 images (more for larger families) to show you, where the lighting was right, the focus is spot on and the facial expressions are great. I do all the hard work so you don’t have to make tough choices!
I want to shed a few pounds before I book. What do you think?
I reckon 99% of my mum clients tell me they want to lose a few pounds before they book. My issue with this is – YOU ARE GORGEOUS THE WAY YOU ARE!!! It is so common to feel insecure in front of the camera, but I will give you tips on what to wear in advance and I will pose you in the most flattering way during the shoot as well.
Don’t wait to get to your goal weight before you book in for your family photo shoot. Your children will just keep growing up and you’ll miss all those wonderful chubby cheeks or gappy teeth which are the things you’ll notice when you look back on your images in years to come: not the couple of pounds you wanted to shift!

What’s the difference between a family photo shoot and a mini session?
I hold a number of seasonal mini sessions throughout the year, such as bluebells, lavender fields and autumn orchard sessions. These are on set dates and in set locations that I choose. The sessions are suitable for one family unit (of up to 6 people – if you are a family of 7 or more you will need to book a full family photo shoot) and last 30 minutes. Prices start at £149 for 5 images and there are upgrades available once you’ve seen your images.

On a bespoke, full family session you are able to choose the time, the date and the location (subject to my availability of course!). The sessions last between 1 – 2 hours and allow plenty of time for capturing a beautiful selection of both posed and natural shots which you’ll be delighted to hang on the walls of your home! To secure a date in my diary, I take a session fee of £99 for up to 6 people (or £149 for groups of 7 or more) and aim to deliver a gallery of between 20 – 40 images. Once you’ve seen the images, you can choose from one of three print and digital collections starting at £399.

Can I share my images online?
YES! I would love it if you wanted to as I know that is pretty much the way every shares their images nowadays! The only thing I ask is that when you do, I’d be so grateful for a credit and tag or a website mention alongside the memories I’ve created for you. Oh, and please, don’t stick any dodgy filters on them! 😊
What if it rains?
Possibly the most often asked question – which is unsurprising when I offer outdoor photography – and a very sensible one too! If the weather forecast looks truly dreadful with rain and winds, then we can absolutely reschedule to another day. If your booking is for a date specific event, and the event is going ahead, then so will the photography. I have a number of tricks up my sleeve to work around inclement weather!
If the forecast is a bit unsure, and likely to be sunshine and showers we will still go ahead this can add a really fun dynamic to shoots with all age groups! Especially small children with puddles and wellies!
Can I just get the digitals?
We live in a digital age and all my packages include digital downloads. However, my packages also include a certain number of FREE prints as I am PASSIONATE about getting images out of the digital ether and into print so that you can display them around your home and not just on your phone! As well as prints, there are options to purchase wall art and frames too, so I very much encourage you to consider where & how you would like to display your images before we’ve even taken a single picture!
How do I book a date?
The easiest way is to click the Let’s Chat button at the top of the page….send me a message with your preferred dates and we’ll get the ball rolling. Or please feel free to give me a ring! If you don’t have a specific date in mind – no problem! We can check my availability and chat through what your preferred seasonal backdrop might be.
How long will it take to get the photos?
Generally I always ask my clients to give me a couple of weeks to get their gallery ready for viewing. However, it can often be just a few days until the images are ready.
Digital images will be available for download as soon as your Collection payment is made and prints will be ordered at that time as well for delivery within 14 working days.
Are your shoots full of uncomfortable posing?
Definitely not! My outdoor sessions take on the form of a country walk so that younger kids can run about and explore and get used to me. There will be a certain amount of ‘posing’ to get a group shot, but I always aim to make it as fun as possible and not to feel stuffy and uncomfortable! My clients often comment on how much fun their sessions are, so I hope I’m doing a good job!
Do you choose the location for the shoot?
I have a whole heap of local parks and walks that I return to again and again for my sessions so I can recommend a load of places. However, if you have a location in mind, I’d be delighted to come and discover a new place. Your own garden, a familiar dog walk you go on, a particular route that takes in landmarks – wherever you fancy!
