BESPOKE BRAND PHOTOS

vs stock

and

AI imagery

There are now more ways than ever to fill a website or social feed with images. Stock libraries are vast, AI-generated visuals are improving at an alarming rate; but, my (somewhat biased – I AM a photographer after all!) belief, is that bespoke brand photography remains the best option when it comes to allowing businesses to show their true authentic self.  Of course, each has its place, and they don’t all do the same job.  Let’s take a closer look!

Stock Imagery

Stock photography is often the first port of call. It’s affordable, easy to access, and useful when something needs to be published quickly – and certainly for many fledgling businesses where money is tight, stock photography is heaven sent!  For generic content, it can work well enough. The downside is that stock imagery is, by definition, generic. The people aren’t connected to the business, the spaces aren’t real, and the images are often used by countless other brands. Over time, that sameness becomes noticeable.

AI Imagery

AI imagery is the newest option and, understandably, one that’s generating a lot of interest. It can create visuals on demand and adapt quickly to different styles or ideas. For concepts, mood boards, or abstract illustrations, it can be genuinely useful. Where it falls down is realism and trust. AI images don’t show real people, real places, or real experiences. They can also feel slightly “off”, even when it’s hard to pinpoint why. For brands built on personality, service, or relationships, that lack of authenticity really matters.

Bespoke Brand Photos

Bespoke brand photography sits in a very different space. It’s created specifically for the business it represents. The people in the images are the people clients will actually work with. The environment is real. The details are accurate. That level of honesty makes a difference, particularly in service-based businesses where trust is everything.

Consistent Imagery

Custom imagery also brings consistency.  When a shoot is planned with insight and forethought, every image created has the brand in mind — the tone, the colours, the pace, and the feeling you want people to take away. This makes it much easier to present a clear and coherent visual identity across a website, across your social social media channels, and in your marketing materials.

Visuals with longevity

From a practical point of view, bespoke imagery tends to have far more longevity than you might expect.  One shoot can supply content for months (and often a lot longer), and can be reused in different ways as the business grows. It becomes a visual record of the brand rather than a temporary solution.

There’s also confidence that comes from being represented accurately. When the imagery feels like a true reflection of the business, it’s easier to show up, share work, and communicate clearly. The visuals stop feeling like placeholders and feel wholeheartedly like part of the brand itself.

Stock photography and AI imagery both have their uses. They can be helpful tools when used thoughtfully and in the right context. But when imagery plays a central role in how a business is perceived, bespoke brand photography offers credibility, authenticity and a sense of connection that alternatives can’t fully replace.

Good brand imagery doesn’t need to shout or impress.  It simply needs to be true.

Who will take your bespoke brand photos?

It’s Me!  Hi, I’m Georgina.

I have a genuine passion for photographing people.  My clients tells me time and again how much they hate having their photo taken.  By the end of their sessions, they are telling me how much fun it was!

I pride myself in putting people at ease in front of the camera and making each and every photoshoot as much fun as possible.

I have photographed marketing specialists, graphic designers, yoga instructors, screen writers, therapists and many others besides.  If you would like to chat about your own personal branding photography session, please do get in touch.

“Georgina was incredible; she captured the essence of the business perfectly and was great getting all members of the team to engage with her, resulting in fantastic, true to life, images.  The turnaround from shoot to final edit was very quick and we are thrilled with the results.

Thank you very much Georgina, we look forward to working with you in the future.”
